Guilt-free Brownies

  • 4 oz milk chocolate
  • 1/3 c canola oil
  • 1/3 c unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 c sugar
  • 8 large egg whites
  • 1 c flour
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)
  • Confectioner's sugar for dusting

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line a 13 x 9 inch baking pan with foil, with the ends of foil extending over the sides of pan. Grease foil.

Melt chocolate in the microwave in a large microwavable bowl and high for approx. 1 min. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Add oil, applesauce and vanilla; mix well. Stir in sugar. Add egg whites; stir until well blended. Add flour and pecans; mix well. Spread batter into prepared pan.

Bake for 25 min. or until brownies start to pull away from sides of pan. Cool completely. Remove brownies from pan using sides of foil.

Makes 24 servings, 1 brownie each.
