Language Institute of Virginia

ABOUT US
studentsThe Language Institute of Virginia is an English language school for international students. It offers beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of instruction in reading and composition, speaking and listening, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary and TOEFL prep. LIV also offers classes for professional development and college prep. Tuition is $200 per semester hour.

The school provides caring, competent and experienced instructors (all with a minimum of a Master’s in TESL or related field) in small classroom settings, and students also have access to library and audio/computer lab facilities for additional language learning activities.

We understand the importance of social learning and so we have programs, such as Conversation Partners, that provide you opportunities to develop friendships with Americans as you practice your English skills in a friendly, low-stress environment. Of course you have opportunities to showcase your own countries and cultures through the International Club, and other annual events like teas, exhibitions, sports, and international dinner nights.

We understand that we are here to serve you and that is why we do everything possible to make your learning experience with us successful, affordable and satisfying. We want you to come back. We want you to bring your friends.  We know that our success is yours.

LOCATION
landscapeLIV is located on the campus of the famous Southwest Culinary and Hospitality College in Bristol, one of the most beautiful areas of the state, and only a few hours from the nation’s capital, Washington, D. C., and other major cities such as Atlanta and Knoxville.

In addition there are major national parks within a few hours’ drive. Its conveniently located regional airport has daily flights to Orlando, Tampa and other popular cities at prices that make holiday excursions to the beach or Disneyworld quite affordable.

Within the Tri-cities region are located all the amenities of large city life (excellent restaurants and coffee shops, numerous parks, superb medical facilities, fine libraries, theatres, and an active cultural life) with the friendly, open and casual atmosphere of a small college town.
