Monday June 20, 2011 - Grilling TechniquesThe grill can be an intimidating cooking tool. The class will go over basic grilling techniques and cooking procedures and culminate with the secrets that pros use. Matt Henry is the instructor for this class. Hands-on.
Monday June 27, 2011 - India Come learn some exciting India dishes like coconut and yogurt chicken, chipitas (flat bread), cucumber riata (dip), hummus and many more. This will be a demonstrative class with tasting all the food at the end. Come see if you can stand the heat. Chef Joe Deel is the instructor.
Tuesday June 28, 2011- Healthy Baking Learn how to make some delicious desserts using healthier ingredients. The class will bake using whole grains and substitutions for fats and sugars. Chef Joe Cumm will be the instructor. You may participate in this class if desired.
Tuesday July 12, 2011 - Advantages of Land Lording There are advantages to land lording by using someone else"s money. Learn how to do this successfully from a couple who have been land lording for over 30 years. Mr. Ed Richards and Mrs. Lynn Richards will be the instructors.
Wednesday July 13, 2011- Wine and Food Pairing This class will cover a brief history of wine production, as well as the basics of each type and style of wine. We then will discuss the basics of wine and food pairing, as well as some more advanced techniques. Jason Corvin will be the instructor. Participants must be 21 or older. Demonstrative class. Cost is $50.00
Monday August 1, 2011 - Bread Making I Learn the basics of bread making and working with yeast and doughs. This is a hands-on class taught by Cathy Riddle.
Monday August 8, 2011 - Bread Making II This class will expand your knowledge of whole wheat and other grains. You will also learn about different types of breads and doughs. This is a hands-on class taught by Cathy Riddle.
Tuesday August 9, 2011 - Basic Cooking Skills and Sauces Learn how to use your knives properly and other basic cooking techniques. Learn how to make the basic sauces that will enable you to create many others. The chefs of Southeast Culinary & Hospitality College will instruct this hands-on class.
Tuesday August 16, 2011 - Taste of the South Cooking Come enjoy some of Chef Richard"s favorite southern recipes from his newly published cookbook, Taste of the South with Chef Richard and Friends. Demonstrative class.
Tuesday August 23, 2011 - Cooking with Fresh Herbs Southeast Culinary & Hospitality chefs will teach you how to incorporate fresh herbs into your daily meals. They will show you how to pair fresh herbs with your summer foods. Demonstrative class.
